Our History

In July of 1963, the Reverend Dan P. Mann, pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church, welcomed the first Family and Friends Reunion to be held there. The following year in July, the reunion was held at the same location.

In July 1965, George Roger Mann, the newly elected president, directed the Family and Friends Reunion to be held at the McCabe City Park. During Roger Mann's 16 year tenure, the Family and Friends Reunion was held in Carthage, Mississippi in 1971. In 1980, the Lord called our president home, leaving J.D. Brookshire to carry on.

Under the leadership of J.D. Brookshire, the reunion was held at Cowan Lake in Wilmington, Ohio. After 6 years of service, the Lord called him home, also.

L.A. Cleveland succeeded J.D. Brookshire as president and served 5 years. In July 1989, the reunion was held in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was a two-day event, the first day began with a boat ride down the Ohio River and the second day going to Kings Island.

In July 1990, the reunion was held at the Americana Amusement Park. In March of 1991, L.A. Cleveland resigned and Curtis Mann, Sr. was elected as president. Under his leadership, the reunion was held at the Corpus Christi Campus in Dayton, Ohio on July 6, of 1991.

A Family is... "A circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every crisis together makes a circle stronger. Every joy shared adds more love. A family is a circle, a wondrous chain joined by hearts filled with love." -Author Unknown
